Stellar photo recovery login1/7/2024 You can also make the software run faster by telling it the type of file that you are trying to recover. I usually work on my photos in Lightroom while the program runs. Depending upon the size of the drive, Stellar Phoenix may take an hour or two to sort through the deleted files. Stellar Phoenix takes some time to work through a drive, but this is a non-issue because the program can run in the background without a problem. (Note: the memory card is labeled as D800e because I renamed it, but the images themselves are old photos from the D7000.) 2) Speed The software will list all the recovered images from the D7000. After Stellar Phoenix Photo Recovery has scanned the drive, it will list every image that it has recovered, sorted by file type. To recover deleted files from a drive (including the computer’s internal drive or any external storage devices), click the big blue button that says “Recover Photo, Audio, and Video.” Click on the drive that you want to recover, then wait. Software is not my strong point, so I like to see that a useful program like this is also easy to understand. ![]() I see the simplicity as a positive - it doesn’t require much effort from the user. I wouldn’t describe its layout as elegant, but it is easy to navigate. Don't expect the software to work miracles and restore images from a card that's since been fully overwritten with new data, but otherwise Stellar Photo Recovery has the potential to rescue you from most data loss scenarios, and with incredible ease.Stellar Phoenix Photo Recovery is definitely a utility-oriented program. If our testing is anything to go by, this recovery software has an incredible ability to resurrect deleted images or digital media wiped during a card reformat. Nobody wants to loose precious digital media and require the assistance of recovery software, but thankfully all may well not be lost, thanks to Stellar Photo Recovery. However, simply removing our test card from the camera as it was writing images to the card posed no problem for the software, as it was able to restore all images except those being written at the point the card was ejected. This is a harder case to consistently test and replicate, and your mileage may vary here depending on the severity of damage/corruption of your card. Stellar Photo Recovery also claims to be able to recover data from damaged or corrupted memory cards. (Image credit: Future) (opens in new tab) The only downside with the file 'index' having been lost is that this also carries the filenames of the original files, so Stellar Photo Recovery creates its own filenames for your recovered images, and there doesn't seem to be much logic to its file numbering convention. As you continue to fill up the card again, more and more files that were on it before the format become permanently overwritten and unrecoverable. Of course once you start using your memory card again after it has been reformatted, the formatted images will start to be overwritten, and will no longer be recoverable. A typical format just removes the index, tricking your computer or camera into thinking the memory card is empty and allowing it to overwrite the 'deleted' data. Think of a physical filing cabinet with an index at the front. Rather, only the file header journal is deleted. The secret here is when a computer reformats a card, rarely does it actually delete the actual data, and almost never does this happen during an in-camera reformat. ![]() When we conducted a more scientific test on a card completely filled with images, then formatted and immediately scanned for recovery, Stellar Photo Recovery restored 100% of the images on the card. We were shocked to find that the software was able to successfully recover images from an SD card formatted long ago, and since used again several times. And in the case of Stellar Photo Recovery, good things come to those who wait.
